Back for another weekly installment of food news. This week we go from fast food disasters to organic food saviours getting it all wrong at the trade fayre. Oh, its also Halloween which means, carving season. Watch your fingers, people.
1) That’s a bit off…
How safe is mouldy food to eat? Well Dr Michael Mosley has been put to the test in his latest series, “Trust Me I’m A Doctor” where he tests the theories of mouldy food. Toast will never seem the same again after this article.
2) McTricked at the Organic fayre
So, you’re an organic food connoisseur and you attend the latest food show talking about “clean”, “healthy” and sustainable eating. Then two men turn up with a camera and ask you to try an “organic burger”; the catch, it’s a McDonald’s Big Mac. The responses are mind boggling.
What are the worst fast food creations? Not sure? Well, Salon has done a great piece on their chosen eleven. Number three is by far the worst for any pizza loving Italian.
4) Carving up a slice
It’s Halloween, it’s pumpkin season, take a knife and make a scary face, in said object. Anyway, here’s a ten step guide to making sure you get it right, and that you lose no fingers.
5) Adios, Tapas
Barcelona and its rich history of tapas is under threat. What’s caused this? LA’s finest invention, the food truck. The thought of patas bravas cooked in an old VW Camper van is surely tempting though, right?
